Local Rugby Team In GL Debut?

Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club was helpful when MS Odense started their Golden League XIII campaign as long time rivals Rochdale United didn't show up for the proclaimed match at Springfield Park.

MS Odense is back in the golden league. Back with the same hopes and dreams, but on a new journey, with new talents and expectations, anyway it was unexpected that the opponent in the first GLXIII match was the first rugby team to enter the golden league tournament.

Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club- Normally playing at a pitch on the top end of Moorgate Avenue, off the Bury Road - made an acceptable performance as a substitute and managed to score a goal, even though a defeat was unavoidable. Shariq Jasim was satisfied after the match and praised his team mates. "Odense asked for our help and we had 30 minutes to find the players to play this match. Football ain't our game. We did our best and finished the match with our heads held high".

The Odense coach was not happy as Rochdale United decided to stay away from the match, but he thanked Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club for helping his team. "Rochdale played well and we gained a lot from this match. We are grateful for being able to play a match after all. We want to congrats these local boys for giving it all on the field".

MS Odense won the match and double goalscorer Stig Hestehauge was one of his teams best players of the match. "We found an opponent, got some training and most important we won a golden league match. We are an inexperienced squad with lots of talent. We appreciate every chance we get to get a win and taste the sweets of a golden league victory".
